Our Mission Statement:
We are a group of progressives promoting peace, improving our electoral process and government, making it more democratic, and healing our environment. We serve the 20+ miles of the Burnt Store Corridor
Burnt Store Blue is a grassroots organization formed in 2018 that meets monthly at venues in the Burnt Store Marina neighborhood. We strive to cover topics of concern to residents along the Burnt Store Road corridor which stretches 20+ miles from Taylor Road in Charlotte County to Pine Island Road in Lee County. Burnt Store Blue began as small house parties. These get togethers were later formalized by a Steering Committee. The initial focus was to help elect democratic candidates in the 2018 midterm elections. We have provided a platform for Democratic candidates in each election since.
During election years we meet as Burnt Store Blue on the last Wednesday of the month in January, February, March, April, September and October at the Linkside Cafe on Vincent Avenue in Burnt Store Marina at the center of the Burnt Store Corridor. We have a Social Hour from 4-5pm, at 5pm we have our Guest Speaker and Dinner at 6:00 pm followed by announcements.
During non-election years we meet as our subsidiary organization, Burnt Store Common Ground, at Linkside Café at the same times. As Burnt Store Common Ground we are dedicated to solving common problems affecting all who live along the corridor regardless of their politics. This effort has brought in speakers on topics such as the right to clean water and safety along Burnt Store Road. Other months we meet at other Burnt Store Marina locations. We host 40-80 Burnt Store residents.
